Description

CONSOLIDATOR + is designed to reinforce and water repel porous surfaces such as natural stone, terracotta, brick, tile and grout without changing the look of the surfaces. Treated surfaces resist water ingress and salt attack. Friable surfaces are reinforced to reduce surface erosion and sanding.

BENEFITS

• Reduces salt water penetration, efflorescence and water borne staining
• Internally reinforces friable surfaces
• Permanently bonds to the substrate with no peel or blister
• Allows the surface to breathe.
• UV, alkali stable and weather resistant

RECOMMENDED USES

On any porous mineral substrate requiring protection from water and salt ingress
• Around salt water pools
• Walls
• Floors

SURFACES THAT CAN BE PROTECTED

CONSOLIDATOR + is ideally suited for porous surfaces around saltwater pools including-

• Natural porous stone
• Pressed concrete pavers
• Brick paving
• Terracotta
• Grout
• Porous tiles

Important! – Not recommended for use on previously salt exposed surfaces.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

  1. Read the instructions carefully to ensure correct application and safe handling.
  2. Do not apply if rain or extreme weather is imminent.
  3. The surface to be protected should be clean, dry, and free of oil, grime, and any previous coatings. If the surface needs to be cleaned, use water and detergent, and ensure that excess detergent is fully flushed away. Allow the surface to fully dry before application.
  4. Do not apply onto salt contaminated surfaces! Repair all cracks and other defects with suitable repair materials.
  5. Mask off any surfaces that will not be treated.
  6. Due to the variability of building materials, always apply onto a test area to ascertain the number of coats required, consumption rate and final appearance of the surface.
  7. Do not thin the product.
  8. Flood apply product using an acetone-resistant sprayer. Apply generously so that the surfaces are “glossy” wet for 5-10 seconds.
  9. Repeat step 8 after 10 minutes.
  10. Wait a further 10 minutes and check if all product has been absorbed. Wipe off any excess product off the surface. Do not allow product to pool and dry on the surface as it will form a hard glassy film that can only mechanically be removed!
  11. Application onto vertical surfaces should start at the top of the surface using a flooding action that results in the liquid running down the surface 30-50cm. Apply a second coat while the surface is still wet.
  12. Wash all equipment in methylated spirits.

CONSUMPTION RATE

The application rate depends on the porosity of the substrate. Total consumption could be 0.5 – 5 Mt2/Litre

CURING

Surface water repellency will initially appear in around 1-2 hours. Full cure of the water repellent components take around 72 hours. Full cure of the consolidation components take about 4 weeks. Avoid traffic in the first 24 hours.
